Settle the Democratic nomination for president?

Can Harry Reid do what no one else has been able to do settle the Democratic nomination for president? On Thursday, Reid sent the insider political media buzzing and posting stories when he told reporters he may send a letter to superdelegates urging them to declare a preference by July 1 to settle the contest. That may be seen as slanted toward Barack Obama, but I would never suggest such a thing. And that brings to mind the question of whether Reid will follow his own advice. “When asked whether he planned to make public his allegiance to either candidate, Reid deflected, saying only that he may try to encourage outstanding superdelegates to choose,” Roll Call reported. Do as I say, not as I do, Reid seems to be saying.
