Three-car crash on 215 turns fatal

A woman was killed and two men were injured when three cars collided on the 215 northern beltway at about 8 a.m. today, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

A silver Toyota Camry was crushed on the side of the road, killing its driver, Trooper Kevin Honea said. She was not being identified by the coroner's office this afternoon.

The Camry's driver drifted over the median into oncoming traffic, Honea said. A Chrysler 300 hit the back of the Camry and spun it around.

The Camry then hit a white pickup truck belonging to a pest control company, forcing it to roll off the road. The highway patrol used the jaws of life to remove the pickup's driver. He was airlifted to University Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, Honea said.

The driver of the Chrysler also was taken to UMC, but his condition wasn't known.

Investigators don't believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, Honea said. Witnesses said they didn't think the Camry's driver was speeding.
