Woman identified in fatal weekend crash

A 26-year-old woman killed Saturday in a one-car crash in North Las Vegas has been identified as Samantha Kate Egberti.

The Clark County coroner's office said the woman's death was caused by blunt head trauma.

Metro Police said the crash occurred at 6:12 a.m. Saturday in the desert near North Sky Point Drive at West Moccasin Road.

The Las Vegas woman was driving a 2008 Volkswagen north on Sky Point at Moccasin where the road turns right. The vehicle failed to turn right and went straight north into the desert, police said.

Officers said the Volkswagen hit a dirt embankment and became airborne, then landed and rolled. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The accident, which is the 77th fatality this year in Metro Police's jurisdiction, remains under investigation, police said.
