7 Henderson stores cited for underage alcohol sales

The Henderson Police Department's Community Relations Unit along with young volunteers on Saturday checked 31 stores selling liquor to see if clerks obeyed the law that forbids sales to minors.

Of the 31 businesses, 24 didn't sell alcoholic beverages to minors, police said.

However, seven of the stores sold alcoholic beverages to underage buyers and police cited employees at those locations.

Three of the businesses that failed on Saturday had also failed during a compliance check in January. They were 7-Eleven on West Horizon Ridge Parkway, Speedee Mart on West Horizon Ridge Parkway and Jet Gas on East Lake Mead Parkway.

The four other businesses that failed were Shell Gas on South Boulder Highway, Shell Gas/Paradise Food Mart on Conestoga Way, 7-Eleven on Center Street and the Seven Hills Chevron on St. Rose Parkway.

Henderson police, in cooperation with the Nevada Division of Child and Family Service Juvenile Justice Commission, routinely conducts monitoring operations to check compliance on selling alcoholic beverages at local stores.
