Flashpoint:

Ex-constitutional officers Steve Martin and Bob Seale will…

Ex-constitutional officers Steve Martin and Bob Seale will have their final day in court this week as they try to convince Nevada’s justices that their master, Sheldon Adelson, has a right to have his ballot questions voted on by the people. Those questions would affect how room taxes are distributed and whether any tax proposal should require approval of two-thirds of the electorate. Opponents — teachers, local governments, the convention authority — know the truth: If these proposals get on the ballot, they are likely to pass. But Martin and Seale, much to the consternation of the man who pays their salaries, may have screwed up the signature-collecting process. I wouldn’t want to be them if the high court rules against them.
