Sometimes it’s all in the delivery. How many times have you said something to someone or responded to a question and you did not receive the response you expected? Perhaps a friend took something the wrong way, and then communication stops and the friendship may be jeopardized.
It’s happened to me, especially if I’m very busy and someone asks something while I am distracted. If I stop and listen to myself, I realize that my tone may have been abrupt, though that is not what I had intended.
It happens to all of us sometimes — at work with co-workers, at home with our spouse or kid, or just out and about in public.
While it is unreasonable to expect perfection, it is important that we each take a moment to assess how we are communicating with those around us.
One of our seniors, Steve, a sweet and compassionate gentleman, is always willing to listen and encourage those around him. A friend asked Steve for some relationship advice. Steve wrote down a few thoughts which we could all benefit from. The following are his thoughts:
“Always make your home happy with love, understanding and respect toward each other. Always talking over a situation or problem with a clear mind will help any problem go right with a better outlook, because you took time out to think right.
“With this in mind, with love for your woman, you will be ever so happy in many ways, because you have someone who cares and loves you in return.
“So be ever so thankful for what you have in life. God gave you the understanding to see things in a better way and, by showing love and respect toward others, you will be looked up to and be admired for the person you really are — yourself.”
Let’s all try to take this very sage advice!
Commodities Deliveries
Unfortunately, because of the high gasoline prices, the Senior Center will no longer be able to deliver commodities to your home. If we had previously delivered to you in the past, please contact the Senior Center to make pickup arrangements.
