Who would ever want to go to war over the United States’ new agreement to set up a missile defense system in Poland? As I remember, we sure as hell didn’t like the idea of Russia putting missiles in Cuba. Didn’t we feel threatened by that? You bet we did.
Seeing how President Bush’s cabal of visionaries is always centered on military diplomacy — which means you do it our way or we fight — the ships sail, the bombs drop and the boots start to march, if we have them.
The political cockpit group flying this metaphoric plane that we’re all in now is what scares me the most because there’s this feeling of an unsettling social misfitness with our flight crew that can’t be ignored.
America needs to get back to having discussions and more diplomacy with a good dose of helping without overhelping in all these troubled hot spots around the world. But elitist superiority is the name of this plane that all Americans are riding in and it is becoming a slow strangling of our liberty, our democracy, and the heart and soul of what this country was founded on — justice.
