Henderson Deaths

Julian Cruz Rosales

Julian "Rosie" Cruz Rosales, 79, of Henderson, died Aug. 16.

The 54-year resident was born April 6, 1929, in Newton, Kan.

He was a foreman at Titanium Metals Corp. for 20 years and worked at Pepcon. After he retired, he worked part time at the Magic Star Casino. He was a veteran of the Navy and served during the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughters Tina and Brenda; stepchildren Philip and Franklin Lauten, both of Henderson, and JoLynn Bumiller of Florida; grandchildren James, Brittany, Jordyn and Taylor Lauten, all of Henderson, and Paul and Daniel Bumiller, both of Florida; great-granddaughter Leah Anne of Henderson; and a brother and sister in California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lauten Rosales of Henderson.

Services were held Aug. 28 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.

Arrangements were handled by Sunrise Cremation and Burial.

Donna Smith

Donna R. Smith, 62, of Henderson, died Aug. 24.

The 30-year resident was born, Nov. 21, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio. She was a homemaker.

Smith is survived by her husband, Harvey Smith of Henderson; sons Jody Hammond of LaFayette, Ga., Tim Hammond of Augusta, Ga., and John Kirk of Overton; daughters Wendy Kirk and Sheri Smith of Las Vegas; niece, April Dewey of Las Vegas; sisters Marilyn Ray of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Dee Andre of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Aug. 29 at Palm Mortuary-Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Richard Wieder

Richard "Dick" Lee Wieder 72, of Sandy, Ore., died Aug. 17.

He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a former resident of Henderson for 29 years and a former employee of the Henderson Telephone Co.

Wieder is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Wieder; daughter, Melissa Hall and her husband, Doug; son, Kenneth Wieder; granddaughter, Ashlee Santos and her husband, Randall Santos II; great-granddaughters Isabella and Mickelle Santos; sister, Shirley Ballard of Turlock, Calif.; and brothers Laurence Leroy Wieder of Georgia, Dave Rothwell of Kingman, Ariz., and Fred Rothwell and Larry Wieder, both of Henderson.

Services will be private.

Milton Woodruff

Milton Woodruff, 85, of Henderson, died Aug. 19.

The 20-year resident was born March 5, 1923, in Whittier, Calif.

He was a retired aviation base superintendant. Woodruff was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.

He is survived by his companion, Sharon Zalace of Henderson; daughter, Patricia Lynette Saylor and her husband, Jack, of Lake Stevens, Wash.; grandchildren Shannon and Sean of Spokane, Wash.; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.
