Letter to the editor:

Blame Congress, not the president

Regarding Ray Harbert’s Saturday letter about former President Clinton (“Disrespect for Clintons is puzzling”), I have to ask whether there is anyone who looks at things objectively anymore.

Objectively, President Bush has been a bad president and former President Clinton was a decent president not great, but decent. To suggest that any president is or was responsible for economic performance is to ignore the facts. If any part of government has much to do with how our very complex economy performs, it is Congress and not the president.

President Clinton was sexually involved with a White House intern in the Oval Office while he was married and then lied about it under oath. That probably isn’t an offense for which he should have been impeached, but it certainly is not admirable behavior to be ignored either.

For once, can’t people see things as they are instead of how they need them to be to fit some preconceived notion?
