Letter to the editor:

Universal care is impossible dream

It’s ridiculous to hear the presidential candidates talk about health care for the masses, especially affordable health care. A family with an income of $50,000 is pushed to the limit just trying to keep milk on the table, buy gasoline to get to a job and pay a mortgage.

How can it be expected of such families to pay monthly premiums for “affordable health care”? So where does that leave those making less than $50,000? The answer to all this: Well, you can tax me more for starters (a little sarcasm).

I would be more willing to pay more money to Medicare than to private insurance companies and have everyone on government care. The company from which I retired has increased my monthly supplemental health insurance premiums every year, but it’s still Medicare that pays the lion’s share. All these promises from politicians to provide health care for the masses will die because it’s impossible to finance them.
