It must be nice to live in a parallel universe. You know the place — where hundreds of millions in a budget shortfall is no indicator of problems, where the nation’s highest foreclosure rate is not a crisis, where the outlook is so bright you have to, as Timbuk 3 once said, wear shades. Welcome to the world of Gov. Jim Gibbons, who painted the rosiest of rosy scenarios in a piece published this week in the Lahontan Valley News. And guess whose fault it is that the good news — you know even with the budget cuts the budget is still going up a lot — is not getting out to the public? Why, it’s us, folks, the dreaded media that keep doing the darndest things. You know, like quoting the governor whenever he says stuff. How irresponsible.
