Letter to the editor:

Health care plan had no chance with GOP

Regarding Thomas Hirsch’s Tuesday letter, headlined “Hillary Clinton failed reforming health care”: I suppose Mr. Hirsch’s memory fails him.

Clinton’s plan during her husband’s presidency was thoroughly “swift boated” by the many millions of dollars spent by the pharmaceutical and health care industries to kill the bill. As you may recall, a Republican Congress took over midterm and the so-called “socialized medicine” plan had no chance.

After the Democrats take over in the next election, we may yet get a good health care plan. If Clinton’s plan is good enough for Congress and federal employees, then it’s good enough for me.
