Letter to the editor:

Bush has let our country down on all counts

This administration has held the people of this great country hostage for eight long years. Looking at the natural circumstances can be quite depressing: escalating gas and food prices, the economy, rising unemployment, the housing crisis, the needless, protracted Iraq war and resulting bankruptcy of our country, the incalculable toll in human loss and suffering and our reputation around the world.

President Bush told us the Iraqi oil was going to pay for this war. He has not been held accountable and our country is hemorrhaging from within. He led us into a war that did not need to be fought with American blood, not to mention the power vacuum that would ensue from Saddam Hussein’s fall and how it would embolden Iran.

As Americans we sense the decline of our once great country and yet we also feel powerless to do anything about it. We have tried to make our collective voices heard by our elected officials.

Many Americans are placing great hope in the upcoming election. I pray they are right. May God help our great country get back on the right track. At least I can pray for that.
