Letter to the editor:

Jackson should embrace Obama

Recently on the TV news I saw the replay of the remarks made by the Rev. Jesse Jackson regarding Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Not knowing his microphone was on, Jackson was talking to someone sitting with him. He was trying to explain that Obama did not have a good rapport with black people. He said Obama was “speaking down to black people.”

Then he went on to say something to the effect of Obama’s losing his manhood. He said this in a more vulgar way than I just wrote.

The Rev. Jackson is old school, having come out of the civil rights movement of the ’60s. He seems to be out of touch.

Instead of talking bad about Obama, Jackson should embrace Obama and what he is trying to accomplish.

We are in the midst of a great historic moment. Obama will be the first black American president. This is what the Rev. Jackson should be most proud of.
