Letter to the editor:

Why Medicare cuts would hurt seniors

The Sunday letter to the editor from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., was a godsend to the many seniors who were seeing their entitlements reduced by the proposed cuts in Medicare. On Wednesday he succeeded in convincing those in the Senate that the 10.6 percent pay cut to doctors would be a disaster for seniors.

We have been informed by our doctors that if they are to continue to take Medicare patients, the patients will be required to pay the difference in cash. Our fixed income cannot support the cash payments on top of what we pay in Medicare supplement insurance and the 4 percent not covered by both.
