LOOKING IN ON: ENTERTAINMENT:

Jazzman of many instruments to play at Green Valley Ranch

Multi-instrumentalist David Van Such will be playing some hot licks on a cool jazz night Wednesday by the pool at Green Valley Ranch Station Casino.

It’s part of the free Oasis After Work Escape series, sponsored by KOAS 105.7-FM, the smooth jazz station known as the Oasis.

Van Such is best-known as a saxophonist but he’s adept on the electric violin, flute, clarinet and keyboard as well. And he doesn’t limit himself to jazz; his interests also include rock and rhythm and blues.

He graduated from Ohio University and moved to Los Angeles, where he played in clubs and was a staff musician at Disneyland for five years.

Van Such landed in Vegas and has been a fixture for many years — with the Ghalib Ghallab Band, Sidro’s Armada and the David Van Such Band.

Cooking queens sign cookbooks

Las Vegas female impersonators Frank Marino and Larry Edwards are featured in “Cooking Doesn’t Have to Be a Drag! Volume 1.”

Stephen Bieniek’s coffee table book features recipes and photos from some of the top drag queens in the country. Profits from the book’s sales go to benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

Edwards, a Tina Turner impersonator who calls himself Hot Chocolate, includes a recipe for, what else, hot chocolate.

Marino, who performs his Joan Rivers act in “La Cage” at the Riviera, has a recipe for pumpkin pie.

“My real thing is going to the drive-through window and yelling my order,” Marino says. “But there isn’t a recipe for that.”

Edwards and Marino are signing books today at Get Booked, which features gay literature and novelty items.

Details: Book signing from 7 to 9 tonight; Get Booked, 4640 Paradise Road, Suite 15.
