An elderly woman had just parked her car in the 7600 block of West Lone Mountain Road when an armed gunman approached her and demanded her belongings, police said of the incident that began about 9 p.m. Monday.

Both suspects then forced her into her house, where they restrained her against her will and ransacked the house, stealing numerous items, police said.

Patrol officers, firearms detectives and robbery detectives nabbed 21-year-old Matthew Venable and 24-year-old Edna Reed on Wednesday.

They are charged with kidnap and robbery with a deadly weapon of a victim over 60 years old, burglary with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon. Additional charges may be added as the investigation continues, police said.

Police credited information received from the public with their ability to make the two arrests. Anyone with additional information is urged to call Metro's Robbery Section at 828-3591. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
