An Illinois doctor has been arrested in Las Vegas for failing to appear in court on charges that he inappropriately touched a female hospital employee in a southern Illinois community hospital.

Las Vegas detectives with Metro Police's fugitive detail spotted Dr. Frantz Charles' vehicle outside a southeast Las Vegas home after an anonymous tip, police said.

Detectives watched the residence and contacted an occupant, who confirmed the doctor was inside the home. Detectives arrested Charles without incident on Wednesday.

Charles will remain at the Clark County Detention Center until an extradition hearing is held, police said.

The allegations stem from an incident that allegedly happened at the Sparta Community Hospital during the morning of Dec. 29, 2007, when a female employee claims Charles sexually assaulted her.

The Sparta Police Department arrested Charles on Dec. 31 and he posted a $1,000 bond. He was charged with sexual abuse, unlawful restraint and misdemeanor battery.

The hospital placed Sparta on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Charles had been scheduled to be in Randolph County court on Jan. 31 to make a first appearance on the criminal charges.
