Police search for armed robber

North Las Vegas police were searching this morning for a man who robbed a Wal-Mart at gunpoint overnight.

The robbery took place around 1:30 a.m. today at the Wal-Mart at 3950 West Lake Mead Blvd., police said.

Officers said their initial investigation found that a man entered the store and began to wait behind customers in a checkout line. While waiting, he pulled out a handgun and demanded the cashier give him money from the register, police said.

The cashier complied, officers said. While the man was in the store, he fired at least one shot, but no one was injured, police said.

The man fled in a dark-colored SUV that was parked on the south side of the building, police said.

The robber was described as being Hispanic, about 5-foot-3, with shoulder-length curly hair, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a red hat.

Police are asking that anyone with information on the robbery or the man call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 633-9111 or Crimestoppers at 385-5555.
