Man arrested in stabbing death

Metro Police arrested a man for stabbing and killing another man and also stabbing his ex-girlfriend early this morning near Ethel Pearson Park in Las Vegas.

Ignacio "Ceasar" Mirando, 47, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center today on one count of murder with a deadly weapon and one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police said they received several 911 calls about 1:30 a.m. today that a woman had been stabbed at F Street and Washington Avenue, which is on the northeast corner of Ethel Pearson Park.

When officers arrived, they said they found a 30-year-old female with a stab wound to the leg and a man believed to be about 35 years old who was dead from a stab wound to the chest.

The woman was transported to the University Medical Center trauma unit, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to her leg.

Homicide detectives determined that both had been stabbed by Mirando, so they went to his home in the 1100 block of Vernon Avenue, where they took him into custody without incident, police said.

The deceased man's name will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office after he has been identified and his next of kin notified, police said.
