Police look for shooting death suspect

Metro Police are looking for a 37-year-old man who police said fired a gun while chasing two men near Highway 215 and Flamingo Road on July 11, killing one of them in what police say was a narcotics-related incident.

Two men in a small gray car were chased by a man with a gun driving a small white convertible, police said. Shots were fired.

The men in the gray car fled to Tropicana Avenue and Fort Apache Drive, where one man was seen dropping a large bag into a trash dumpster before driving to St. Rose Sienna Hospital, police said.

At the time of the incident, a 20-year-old man was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, and subsequently died at University Medical Center where he had been airlifted, police said. Officers did not release the name of the deceased man.

An arrest warrant was issued on July 15 for Jeffrey Yonck, 6-foot-3, weighing 210 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, police said.

Younck is wanted for murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

The white convertible Yonck drove has been recovered and Younck may have fled the Las Vegas area, police said.

Another gunshot victim, 19-year-old Ronald Richards of Las Vegas, was treated and released, police said. Richards was then arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
