A man was arrested late Monday after authorities said he stabbed his girlfriend in the neck and left her in a van, Metro Police said.
The department's Domestic Violence Unit arrested Joseph Emanual Lawrence, 51, of Las Vegas, at about 6 p.m. Monday and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of first-degree kidnapping and attempted murder.
Authorities said Lawrence and his girlfriend were living inside two vans parked in a residential area in northeast Las Vegas. During an argument on Monday, Lawrence stabbed his girlfriend in the neck, then drove her to an industrial complex near the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Marco Street.
He then left the vehicle at that location with the victim still inside, police said.
The woman was able to get assistance and was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
