House fire in northwest valley causes $50,000 in damage

Las Vegas firefighters arrived at a home in the northwest valley near U.S. 95 and Jones Boulevard today to find flames flaring outside the one-story wood-frame house.

The fire worked its way into the eaves and the attic area, but was contained outside the house at 6104 Empire Circle after firefighters were called at 1:41 p.m., said Tim Szymanski, spokesman for the Las Vegas Fire Department.

Two adults and two teenagers, ages 13 and 18 years old, were home at the time of the fire, Szymanski said. There were no injuries and a pet dog was safe with the family, he said.

The damage from the fire is estimated at $50,000 and its cause hasn’t been determined, Szymanski said.
