Russia and China have joined in opposition to the missile defense system the United States proposes for Eastern Europe. They need not worry. The missile defense technology is not there.
But there is enormous political, financial and academic pressure to support the missile defense system.
The Department of Defense has spent a fortune promoting it. Could it be time to starve the real beast: the DOD?
It is past time to lay off the criticism of Barack Obama and John McCain in connection with their former ecclesiastical pals. But they should be asked to state their position on the missile defense system. What are its flaws? How many billions of dollars have been wasted on Ronald Reagan’s pipe dream?
Who will have the courage to tell the truth to the American people? We don’t need false hopes in a defense system that does not defend us, and we don’t need Star Wars.
