Obama could appeal to Republicans

I believe Barack Obama will win the presidency by a landslide.

Of course he will get most Democrats to vote for him. But here is what could be shocking: When Republicans go into the booth to vote, they just might start thinking like Democrats.

They may think to themselves: runaway inflation, high gas prices, skyrocketing national debt, the Iraq war and possibly a war with Iran, rising unemployment, the plunging dollar, the falling stock market and lack of confidence in our economy, the immigration dilemma, seniors’ getting only a 2.4 percent raise in their Social Security checks when inflation is three times that amount, the mortgage crisis ...

Republicans are true capitalists, and when the government challenges their philosophies you will likely see some rebelliousness that may result in a withholding of their votes from their party.

Americans usually vote with their pocketbooks. And the Democrats seem to be convincing the public that a change is the answer — a good change, not a change that would keep us on the financial path we are now on.
