With regard to flying the American flag:
I had to take my granddaughter to a neighborhood community center during a school break, and I couldn’t help but notice the American flag flying high — yet it was ripped.
It was sad, but I said nothing.
In the past month, when a second school break came around, the flag at the community center still looked the same.
I was more depressed about it, so I finally spoke up. I mentioned to the assistant manager at the neighborhood community center that you should not display our flag like that — show some respect for our flag. She knew I was serious.
The next day a brand-new flag was flying high — it looked so beautiful.
So speak up.
