CSN celebrates artistic diversity

The College of Southern Nevada's Henderson Campus will celebrate artistic diversity with a series of cultural events throughout the fall.

Faculty members Walt Blanton and Chris Davis will perform traditional and progressive jazz during Friday Night Jazz at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17.

The CSN Vocal Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 will offer a trip down musical memory lane with popular tunes.

Both events will take place in Building C, room 133.

College Fair to put careers in spotlight

The 31st annual College Fair Plus will take place from 8-5 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21 at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The fair is open to students in grades 9-12 and will allow high school students to explore post-graduation opportunities.

Poetry program offers instruction

All Nevada public, private, charter, alternative and home school high schools are invited to participate in the fourth annual Poetry Out Loud program.

The program is sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council.

Student earns top honors at university

Henderson resident Ronny Bowman has been named to the provost's list at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

To make the provost's list, students must earn and maintain a GPA of 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while carrying nine or more credit hours.

UPS donates supplies to two schools

Students at Edna F. Hinman and Robert Taylor elementary schools will receive an assortment of school supplies as the result of a school supply drive from United Parcel Services.

The drive was organized by a women's leadership group of UPS employees. UPS employees from all over the Las Vegas Valley contributed.
