Residents in and around Henderson will have many opportunities to give back to the community as part of the 18th annual Make a Difference Day, Oct. 25.
Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of helping others, and several local organizations have events scheduled to help those in need.
- Angels in the Valley, a group dedicated to providing clothing for needy newborns, will hold a clothing and blanket drive for babies going home from local hospitals. Clothing and blankets can be dropped off at Elise Wolff Elementary School until Oct. 24.
- Project Green, a volunteer group of residents who live near Pittman Wash, are coordinating an effort to remove invasive species, restore Pittman Wash to its natural condition and install a trail system. Interested volunteers will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the amphitheater behind Silver Springs Recreation Center 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
- The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by former football player Tony Berti and his wife, Nikki, will work with Payless ShoeSource to provide 1,500 disadvantaged children from Southern Nevada Boys & Girls Clubs a free pair of shoes, socks, school supplies and a T-shirt.
- Molly Maid and the Ms. Molly Foundation will donate a portion of service fees for every home cleaned until Oct. 31 to SAFE House, a nonprofit organization that works with victims of domestic violence.
