Letter to the Editor:

Palin’s leadership will appeal to women

Ellen Sterling, in her Saturday letter to the editor, makes the same mistake as many other women in her dubious assumption that John McCain is simply pandering to supporters of Hillary Clinton by selecting Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Moreover, strident pro-choice feminists tend to falsely and arrogantly cast themselves as the spokespersons for all women, infuriating many of us for decades. It is high time other women voice their strong stance for authentic faith and family in every public square, and Palin just may be the galvanizing heroine to inspire them to do so.

Furthermore, I feel fairly confident Sen. McCain has no illusions about capturing the hardened pro-Hillary women voters. However, he is the first to courageously acknowledge a true female leader for millions of us.

The pluses are that she is also a proven local community organizer, proudly and steadfastly anti-politics-as-usual a middle-class emphasizer, and will be a fresh face and voice inside the Beltway. She is a true win-win!
