Letter to the Editor:

Selection showed lack of judgment

John McCain’s campaign slogan is “Country First.” He was certainly not thinking “Country First” when he made his vice presidential selection.

When you are 72 years old, with nearly six of those years being incredibly hard on the mind and body (his years as a prisoner of war), and when you have had four treatments for cancer and when you are being tested physical and mentally during a difficult campaign, you have a duty to your country to pick a person qualified to assume the presidency at a moment’s notice.

The person, a heartbeat away from the presidency, must be more qualified than a person whose credential in foreign affairs is that Alaska is close to Russia. McCain met her only one time, for about one hour, and made the determination that she is qualified to succeed him.

This, “my friend,” is very irresponsible. Again, poor judgment, politics first and a denial of the situation have put our country at risk if McCain should win.
