Summerlin deaths

Jean Barosay

Jean Barosay, 98, of Las Vegas, died Aug. 26.

The 23-year resident was born Jan. 9, 1910, in Poland.

She was a homemaker.

Barosay is survived by her sons Mel A. Barosay of Las Vegas and Edward C. Barosay of Trion, Ga.; daughter, Barbara A. Lindblad of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 30 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to K-9 Therapists of Las Vegas, PO Box 530278, Henderson, 89053.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Joseph Chopp

Joseph T. Chopp, 85, of Las Vegas, died Aug. 26.

The three-year resident was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Dodgeville, Mich.

Chopp was a retired manufacturing punch press operator. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and WWII.

Chopp is survived by his wife, Leora Chopp, of Las Vegas; daughters Paulette Bugnell of Westland, Mich., and Julie Munoz of Evansville, Ind.; sons Dennis Chopp of O'Fallon, Mo. and Joseph Chopp of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 31 at Marvel Manor Assisted Living.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Creekside Hospice, 3675 Pecos McLeod, Ste. 900, Las Vegas, 89121 (650-76690).

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Eileen Claghorn

Eileen A. Claghorn, 89, of North Las Vegas, died Aug. 28.

The three-year resident was born March 6, 1919, in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

She was a homemaker.

Claghorn is survived by her sons LTC Charles E. Claghorn, and wife Holly, of North Las Vegas and Thomas S. Claghorn of Milford, Conn.; granddaughters Melissa Smith of Box Elder, S.D. and Jennifer Claghorn of Henderson; great-grandchildren Colten and Kylee Smith of Box Elder, S.D.; and sister, Greta Fyfe, of Sunrise, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles E. Claghorn.

Gloria Mayer

Gloria Mayer, 81, of Las Vegas, died Sept. 1.

The 20-year resident was born March 17, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mayer was a retired music teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Leo R. Mayer, of Las Vegas; and daughter Patricia Lee Stewart of Santa Maria, Calif.

Services will be private.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Earl Porter

Earl Wayne Porter, 65, of Las Vegas, died Aug. 28.

The 39-year resident was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Fredericksburg, Va.

He was a retired painter.

Porter is survived by his mother, Clara B. Porter, of Pace, Fla.; sister, Carol Stevens, and husband Leo, of Pace, Fla.; and brother, Donald Porter, and wife Audrey, of Las Vegas.

Services were held Sept. 2 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne.

Helen Wexler

Helen Wexler, 76, of Las Vegas, died Sept. 1.

The 19-year resident was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Washington D.C. She was a retired sales manager.

Wexler is survived by her husband, Daniel Wexler, of Las Vegas; daughters Sydna Becker and Michele Wexler of Las Vegas; son, Kenneth J. Wexler, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road, Sept. 5. A graveside service will be held at 8 a.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Sept. 8.
