My favorites are the old women who’ve obviously lived in Nevada for years. Their dark skin has been tanned to leather by the desert sun. The smell of cigarette smoke seeps from their pores. Their posture portrays years spent in front of slot machines.
I wonder about these Vegas veterans. Did they come on vacation years ago and get seduced by the flashing lights?
I want to bring them to the Pacific Northwest where I believe our healthy environment and lifestyle can bring them back to life. The rain that grows green forests could certainly transform dehydrated skin. Hiking in the fresh air could clean lungs and pores and straighten spines.
