The officer involved in a shooting Friday in the 3600 block of Stober Avenue has been identified as Officer Oluremi Damole, Metro Police said.

Damole, 34, has been employed by Metro Police since 2007. He is assigned to the patrol division of Enterprise area command.

The suspect, 18-year-old Lance Kinshella of Las Vegas, remains hospitalized after he was shot by police at about 1:42 a.m. Friday at the Woodhaven Apartments, police said.

Kinshella has been charged with one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting a police officer with a weapon and attempted murder of a police officer, Metro Police said.

Kinshella has prior adult convictions for auto burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Officers arrived at the apartment complex after a call that shots had been fired.

They spotted two men behind a wrought iron fence at the complex and ordered them to halt. The officers told one man to raise his T-shirt because they suspected he could be carrying a concealed weapon. Instead, the man reached into his waistband and pulled out a gun, which officers took as a confrontation, police said.

At that point, one of the officers fired at the man several times, police said. Kinshella was taken to University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, police said.
