The 43-year-old man who died Tuesday after his vehicle crashed into the rear of a semi-truck stopped for a traffic light at Cheyenne Avenue and Michael Way has been identified as Brian Southard of Las Vegas.
The accident occurred about 3:52 p.m. Tuesday after the man's 2000 Chevrolet S10, which was westbound in the center lane on Cheyenne, failed to stop and crashed into the 2008 Freightliner, Metro Police said.
The driver of the semi-truck, 50-year-old Benjamin Joyce, wasn't injured, police said.
Paramedics pronounced Southard dead at the scene. The Clark County coroner's office identified him. This is the 85th traffic-related death in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
