High-speed crash leaves one dead, another injured

North Las Vegas police are on the scene of a deadly crash that killed at least one person and sent another to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to preliminary reports, a white car traveling about 100 mph and a black vehicle crashed on Alexander Drive and Belmont Avenue near Civic Center Drive shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The front half of the white car was sheared off.

Alexander Drive is closed to traffic while the North Las Vegas Police Department's fatal detail investigates.

This afternoon, Preliminary findings indicated excessive speed contributed to the crash. Alcohol and drug testing use has not been determined.

Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555. Cash awards of up to $2,000 are available to

anyone with information that leads to the arrest or indictment of people responsible for felonies.
