Letter to the Editor:

McCain campaign using slimy tactics

After seeing the latest John McCain campaign TV ad, I have to ask: Have you no shame, Sir?

While criticizing the McCain economic plan, Obama made the analogy of “putting lipstick on a pig,” and said that given the plan’s similarity to the failed policies of the Bush administration, it’s “still a pig.” To suggest that Obama made a sexist slur against the Republican vice presidential nominee is slimy, dirty politics at its worst.

The fact of the matter is that McCain himself has used the identical phraseology several times since the campaign season began. I’m sure the good senator wasn’t making reference to the female Democratic candidate when using that term. Yet, he endorsed using the attack against his opponent, knowing full well that Obama was not speaking of McCain’s running mate.

This type of underhanded, contemptible tactic is why Americans are, for the most part, sick and tired of politics as usual. McCain promised a “clean campaign,” a “straight-talking” campaign. Seems that he’s failing miserably.

If this is the true character of the Republican presidential nominee, who talks about morality and fair play, I guess I need to revisit my Webster’s for an updated definition of those words.

Enough is enough.
