Police this afternoon are seeking a man believed to be a parent who fired a shot in the air from a long-barreled rifle near Rancho High School in North Las Vegas.
Witnesses told police that the man was arguing with a teenager, when he went to an SUV and retrieved the rifle. He fired one shot in the air and got back into the vehicle and left the scene near the high school, which is at 1900 Searles Ave.
Students reported shots fired to the high school's office.
Police have a description of the man and a partial license plate number.
Officers are seeking the man, although they are dismayed at this incident at the beginning of the school year.
