NHP identifies man killed near Red Rock Canyon

A 22-year-old man, Christopher Conzen of Las Vegas, died after his car rolled over in a desert area of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Honea said today.

Conzen was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry eastbound on State Route 159, Honea said. For unknown reasons, he steered sharply to the left and the car spun across both lanes into a desert area north of the two-lane road about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Honea said.

The Toyota overturned and Conzen wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, Honea said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Highway patrol investigators are trying to determine whether speed was a factor and are awaiting toxicology results, which could take weeks, Honea said.
