flashpoint:

Life on Yucca Mountain

There hasn’t been this much action on Yucca Mountain since the final screw was put in by President Bush earlier in the millennium. The catalyst has been Nuclear Projects Agency boss Bob Loux’s inadvertently pulling the curtain on his virtually autonomous fiefdom, where he could spend a fortune without much supervision. That has brought everything full circle with the man who, as governor, created Loux, Richard Bryan, now presiding over his possible demise as he heads the commission overseeing Loux’s agency. That irony is painfully rich. But the Loux controversy also has opened the door for those who want to discuss benefits and believe that with Loux out of the way, that might happen. This could get very ugly.
