Henderson deaths

Rita Dwiggins

Rita Mary Wilz-Yeager-Dwiggins, 81, of Henderson, died Sept. 11.

The 27-year resident was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Washington, Ind. She was raised on a farm during the Great Depression. After graduating nursing school, she married Joseph Yeager in 1948. While raising her family she was active in the PTA, Veterans of Foreign War, church and square dancing as well as working as a nurse at Silver Cross Hospital.

After 34 years she retired, and she and her husband moved to Henderson in 1981. She volunteered at St. Rose Dominican Hospital and worked part time at Dr. DeMille's chiropractic office. She enjoyed reading and playing cards and was a fan of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. She was also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

She became a widow in 1986. She later met Joe Dwiggins at bingo and they were married in 1999. They shared a love of bingo and video poker at the Fiesta Henderson.

Dwiggins is survived by her husband, Joe Dwiggins of Henderson; sons Michael Yeager and wife, Jenny, of Chicago, Patrick Yeager of Henderson, William Yeager and wife, Patricia, of Beecher, Ill., and John Yeager and wife, Rebeckah, of Henderson; daughter, Kathy Pifer and husband, Bruce, of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister, Norma Crow; brother, Jack Wilz and wife, Shirley; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and the extended Carducci, Ducker, Ealy and Utt families.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; daughter Carol Ann Joho; brother Buford Wilz; sisters Bennie Grenna and Bobbie Haag; and grandson Joseph Yeager.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Palm Mortuary-Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway, with interment to follow at Palm Memorial Park-Henderson.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Helen Hall

Helen Vinida Hall, 85, of Henderson, died Sept. 13.

The 53-year resident was born May 19, 1923, in Grant City, Mo., to Pleasant Samuel Wiley and Mamie Mabel Wiley.

After graduating from Grant City High School in Missouri, she married Robert C. Hall. After he returned from service in World War II, they moved to Los Angeles, where she worked for Union Hardware and attended the Metropolitan School of Business.

In 1955, the family moved to Henderson, where she was a homemaker and a secretary for Clark County School District for 18 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Grauman of Henderson; son, Ronald Hall of Las Vegas; grandchildren Todd Grauman, of Mesa, Ariz., Kirsten Grauman of Henderson, Andrea Miller, Micala Hall and Katharine Hall, all of Las Vegas; great-granddaughter Victoria Grauman of Mesa; and sisters Frances Motsinger of Grant City, Mo., Ella Mae Barker of Cameron, Mo., and Kathrine Spicer of Hemet, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert C. Hall, who died Oct. 6, 2002.

Services will be private.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Heber Lamb

Heber Burnell Lamb, 79, of Henderson, died Sept. 6.

The 53-year resident was born Jan. 1, 1929, in St. George, Utah, and was raised in Pioche. He worked for the Clark County School District for 31 years before retiring. He had also retired as a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves after 33 years of service.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served missions with his wife in Montreal, Switzerland and Las Vegas. He was a lifelong Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

Lamb is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise; daughters Cathy and Laurie, both of Henderson; sons Ed of Anchorage, Alaska, Bob of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jerry of Salt Lake City; sister Orilla of Pioche; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 13 at the Cholla Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Arrangements were handled by Bunker Mortuary.
