Local students named to dean's list

Southern Utah University has named Logan Butt, Ara Kreimeyer, Jillian Pagan and Tysson Poots of Henderson and Brianne Perkins, Reasha Smith and Steven Smith of Boulder City to the dean's list for the spring 2008 semester.

To make the dean's list, students must be taking at least 15 credits and earn a grade point average of at least 3.6. The students on the dean's list represent the top 13 percent of the student body at Southern Utah University.

Green Valley grad named scholar

Green Valley High School graduate Hesham Elnagar has been selected as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar for 2009-2010. The scholarship, worth about $24,000, is awarded to students who wish to study abroad for a school year.

Elnagar is currently a student at Northern Arizona University and has not yet decided where he wants to spend his year abroad.

The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship program was founded in 1947 and is the world's largest privately funded international scholarship program. Elnagar is sponsored by the Green Valley Club in Rotary's District 5300.

Christian preschool to hold open house

Green Valley Christian School will host an open house for pre-school at 6 p.m. Sept. 18. at Green Valley Christian Center, 711 Valle Verde Court.

The open house will give parents a chance to learn about enrollment, see the classrooms, meet the teachers and learn more about the school's programs, including Green Valley Christian Kids Inc. program.
