Library attendees will soon get the chance to take home a craft in addition to some parenting tips.

The Family to Family Connection program will host the Make & Take Mondays series 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17 at the Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave.

The program is for parents or guardians and their children ages 5 and younger.

The library classes will cover different topics beginning with the "Building Self Esteem" class Sept. 22.

Host of the classes, the connection's community infant educator Pam Rolfe, said the morning will begin with a quick talk.

"There will be suggestions on … how to grow a child who is more self assured," she said

The short lecture will be followed by a craft, as will the lectures at the following Monday programs.

On Oct. 20 the topic will be language and communication and for Nov. 17, the class is titled "Nutrition & the 5 Senses."

While Rolfe said the lesson plans haven't yet been set in stone, the Oct. 20 class will likely be a baby sign language class and the Nov. 17 lesson might be about nutrition and food colors.

Family to Family Connection also offers a number of other classes for Henderson/Green Valley-area residents including classes on starting solid foods, healthy toddler snacks and taming tempers.

Most of the group's classes are held at the Family to Family Baby Center, 31 Church St., off the parking lot of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals' Rose de Lima Campus.

The programs aim to create or enhance families' parenting skills in areas related to health, safety and development, Rolfe said. They also give parents a chance to network with other parents and take their children to play groups.

"They're a very well-kept secret that we're trying to get out," she said.

Family to Family Connection is a statewide program funded by grants. The district that serves Southern Nevada is affiliated with St. Rose Dominican Hospitals and is known as Las Vegas South.
