A car plowed into a garage on Norfolk Avenue on Sept. 13. The driver was taken to the hospital.

William Rutter was watching television about 7 p.m. Sept. 13 when he heard a loud crash. He opened the front door and found a car sticking out the side of his garage.

His Norfolk Avenue home sits in the middle of a long block of about 25 homes, he said. The driver, 54-year-old Patricia Curry, lives on the same street, he said. Norfolk Avenue is near Pecos Road and Windmill Parkway in Henderson.

Not only was the garage damaged, but a car and motorcycle in the garage were totaled, he said. Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said the driver of the Hyundai Elantra has not been charged, but police are still investigating the accident.

Rutter, 62, said the driver "clipped a neighbor's car in the street, ran across a couple lawns and went into the garage."

He said the driver appeared to be "out cold." She was taken to the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Siena Campus, but her condition was not available.

Rutter estimated damage to his garage, car and motorcycle at $20,000 to $30,000, which should be covered by insurance.

He said he and a neighbor have ruts in their lawns as well.
