You have to give The Mouth That Roared credit. Mayor Oscar Goodman can still shoot his mouth off to the media — his “I might run for governor and my wife should replace me” stuff in the weekend Sun — and it gets everyone talking. All of the TV stations picked up the story. But what is the story? That Goodman might run for governor — Where have we heard that before? Oh, yes, in 2002 and 2006. Oh, but this time Carolyn gave him permission. The irony is that she is more qualified to be governor in many ways than he is. But the truth probably is that neither will run for anything. And even if either does, my guess is the end result will be the same: They will be in their Coronado home in retirement by mid-2011.
