A Clark County Grand Jury today indicted 49-year-old Edward Halverson, husband of Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Halverson, for attempted murder after he attacked her with a frying pan.

The jury returned two counts: attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon and battery with domestic violence involving a deadly weapon with substantial bodily harm.

The 50-year-old Judge Halverson appeared before the grand jury Tuesday and described the Sept. 4 attack, saying her husband hit her in the head with a frying pan. She had been hospitalized and underwent surgery. She has 100 stitches and staples in her head.

Edward Halverson was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday. Instead, his initial arraignment will be on Oct. 1 before Judge David Barker.

Judge Halverson called police the night of Sept. 4 and begged officers to help her. When husband Edward was in the room, she asked him to get her some ice for her battered right eye, to clean up the blood in the back bedroom and asked him why he tried to kill her.

Halverson was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment.
