So here’s a surprise, courtesy of AP: “Seven Western states and four Canadian provinces on Tuesday proposed a comprehensive program to cut greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, manufacturers and vehicles.” Guess which Western state isn’t involved? Sayeth gubernatorial spokesman Ben Kieckhefer: “Nevada’s position as a growing state and a net importer of energy would make a cap and trade type of system detrimental to Nevada’s growth ... the governor has focused on ensuring Nevada can utilize its renewable resources ... Until the technologies and transmission capabilities are in place to utilize those renewables, we can’t artificially hinder the state’s capacity to grow its economy.” Alas, our Jim is no Arnold.
