Annual Goodstuff garage sale set

The 16th annual Goodstuff garage sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at Lake Mountain Estates. More than 50 participants from Lake Mountain Estates will be selling their items this year.

A small bake sale will also take place in the clubhouse. Proceeds from the bake sale will benefit St. Jude's Ranch for Children.

Willow Beach fishing pier set to open

A ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 30 to celebrate the opening of the new Willow Beach fishing pier at Lake Mead.

The pier is the first step in a multi-million dollar facility upgrade for the Willow Beach area that will continue into next year.

The pier is self-adjusting and is designed to reduce long-term operation and maintenance costs.

The pier is made from aluminum and is sits on top recycled molded plastic floats. It is wheelchair accessible and is more than 2,200 square feet.

Daughters honor founding member

Members of the Silver State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution gathered Sept. 13 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery to place and dedicate a paver stone to pay tribute to Patsy Mosley Menefee.

Menefee was an organizing regent of the Silver State Chapter in 1991.

Present at the dedication were Diana Young, Diane Greene, Kitty White, Marilyn Hamm, Karen Lampus, Nancy Matchett, Rebecca Eisenman and Luanna Mitchell.

Members of the Silver State Chapter said they were honored to have known and worked with Menefee.

Signing set for new B.C. history book

Cheryl Ferrence will sign copies of her recently published book "Around Boulder City" during a launch party at 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Boulder Dam Hotel.

The book is a look at Boulder City history through photos, most of them from the collection of the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association. All proceeds of the book will benefit the association.

In addition, the book's publisher, Arcadia Publishing, has released a booklet of 15 postcards of historic images, which will be available at the event.

Police to conduct car seat checkpoint

The Boulder City Police Department will host the annual car seat checkpoint from 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 2 at Avenue B and Sixth Street.

Officers will be there to check for proper installation of child safety seats in cars and instruct motorists how to install them correctly.

Country Store seeks donations for sale

Grace Community Church is collecting donations for its 61st annual Country Store rummage sale Oct. 17 and 18.

Donations will be received at Park Street Storage, Mondays, 8-11 a.m. until Oct. 6. Arrangements can be made for large items to be picked up, and for the elderly and handicapped by calling 293-2018.

The proceeds from the sale will help to fund church projects and missions.

Basic High Class of 1968 to meet

Plans are under way for Basic High School class of 1968's 40-year reunion, and reunion organizers are searching for classmates.
