Henderson deaths

Don Bloomingkemper

Don Lee Bloomingkemper, 66, of Henderson, died Sept. 21.

The 10-year resident was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Wewoka, Okla. He was a retired cook.

Bloomingkemper is survived by his son, Duane Bloomingkemper of California; and sister, DeeDee Taurman of Henderson.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Thelma Bloomingkemper

Thelma Bloomingkemper, 86, of Henderson, died Sept. 21.

The 10-year resident was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Ada, Okla. She was a retired cleaning products order filler.

Bloomingkemper is survived by her daughter, DeeDee Taurman of Henderson; brother, Jerry Taurman of Henderson; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Carol Dompier

Carol Joann Dompier, 65, of Henderson, died Sept. 20.

The 25-year resident was born Aug. 8, 1943, in Eugene, Ore. She served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Women Veterans of Nevada and Nevada Gems. She had a great passion for genealogy and was very devoted to her grandchildren.

Dompier is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gerald Dompier; daughter, Victoria M. Gasca and husband, Leo, of Henderson; sons Mark P. Dompier of Henderson, and Gerald W. Dompier and wife, Shannon, of Las Vegas; brother, John Malcom Simmons and wife, Ila, of Cottage Grove, Ore.; grandchildren Armando, Christian, Liliana, Ryan, Joann and Brandon; and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that donations be made any charity of choice.

Services were held Sept. 24 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Boulder City Family Mortuary.

William Meacham

William "Bill" H. Meacham, 81, of Henderson, died Sept. 15.

The 45-year resident was born April 4, 1927, in Sacramento. He was a retired aviation storekeeper, a member of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

Meacham is survived by his daughters Tia Night Eagle of Maui, Hawaii, and Kimberly Primavera of Provo, Utah; son, Evan Meacham of Kennewick, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:40 p.m. Sept. 26 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Deanna Pickthall

Deanna B. Pickthall, 53, of Henderson, died Sept. 11.

The lifelong resident was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Boulder City. She was a homemaker, mother and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 2672.

Pickthall is survived by her fiance, Keith Brown of Henderson; daughter, Darlene Durham of Las Vegas; son, John Bracken of Henderson; eight grandchildren; sisters Dawn Bracken and Joan Bracken, both of Henderson; brothers Dean Bracken Jr. of Henderson, and Scott Bracken, of Central, Utah.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 27 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Desert Rose Chapel, 567 W. Pacific Ave. Following the service, a wake will be held at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles lodge, 310 W. Pacific Ave.

Sarah Prince

Sarah Alice Prince, 67, of Henderson, died Sept. 20.

The 14-year resident was born Aug. 16, 1941, in Harrisburg, Pa. She was a homemaker.

Prince is survived by her husband, Donald G. Prince of Henderson; daughters Cathy Haslinger of Henderson, and Nancy Natoli of Moreno Valley, Calif.; sister, Ruth Brumfield of Coarsegold, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 1:20 p.m. Sept. 25 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Bethany Smith

Bethany Jenea Pupello Smith, 17, of Boulder City, died Sept. 20.

She was born Feb. 7, 1991, in San Bernardino, Calif. She was a Girl Scout, figure skater and a gymnast. She was on the Boulder City High School swim and golf teams. Her dream was to be a journalist.

She loved animals and would have as many pets as she had room for.

Smith is survived by her parents, Larry and Marcia Smith of Boulder City; maternal grandparents Joe and Kay Pupello of Las Vegas, and Rita Senn of Largo, Fla.; paternal grandparents Amos and Karen Parrish of Dade City, Fla.; many aunts, uncles and cousins; Tyler D., who brought her a special comfort; and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Pavilion at Boulder Creek Golf Club. A celebration of her life will follow the visitation.

Marguerite Sweeney

Marguerite J. Sweeney, 83, of Henderson, died Sept. 17.

Marguerite and her husband, Bob, were Nevada's first gourmet coffee roasters, operating Sweeney's Gourmet Coffee Roasters for more than 24 years.

She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Bob Sweeney; children Kate Lowe and husband, Gary, Terese Sweeney, Robin Girres and husband, Dan, Shawn Fuchs and husband, Bob, Peter Sweeney and wife, Donna, Kevin Sweeney and wife, Deb, Dan Sweeney and wife, Kelly, Tom Sweeney, Mary Cowley, Bob Sweeney and wife, Loren; brother Joe Schreiber; 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 22 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
