Letter to the editor:

McCain voters have priorities in order

In a letter in Tuesday’s Las Vegas Sun, Donald Ross questions why, in light of the current dismal economic conditions, almost 50 percent of the voters support John McCain. In the last sentence he states, “I just don’t understand the Republican mind; what are they thinking?”

The answer is simple. Voters who support McCain are intelligent voters — they are thinking with their brains, not with their guts.

McCain voters are smart enough to understand that this country needs a president with experience and real integrity, not a neophyte whose credibility is questionable at best.

Mr. Ross also states that “if Barack Obama were white and didn’t have a ‘funny’ name, the outcome of the election would not even be in doubt.” This is a lame rationalization for why nearly 50 percent of the voters oppose Obama.

The real reasons these voters oppose him are several: (1) he is inexperienced; (2) he lacks credibility; (3) his positions on most of the major issues are wrong, particularly his burning desire to surrender to the terrorists in Iraq; and (4) he is a Democrat.

If he would correct these faults, perhaps the outcome of the election would not be in doubt.
