Summerlin Golf Academy now providing adult lessons

Tom Carlson's Summerlin Golf Academy recently started an adult program at Angel Park Golf Club.

Carlson, founder of the academy, will offer the lessons to adults in both private and group settings.

Lessons will be available on weekdays and weekends at the newly renovated practice facility at Angel Park. In addition, classes will run at the same time as the junior academy which will allow parents and their children to take lessons at the same time.

Private adult lessons are $90 per hour with a series of five lessons priced at $400. Five adult lessons are $225; those lessons won't exceed four students.

The lessons focus on putting, chipping, pitching and the full swing. The knowledge, positions and training Carlson emphasizes are the same for all students, including touring professionals.

A longtime member of the PGA, Carlson is a disciple of legendary instructor Jimmy Ballard who has taught a multitude of PGA Tour players — Jim Dent, Johnny Miller, Curtis Strange and Hal Sutton.

Carlson's stable of students includes Nationwide Tour player Scott Piercy who has won two events in 2008 and currently stands third on the Nationwide Tour money list.
